Patriot's pen

Each year more than 165,400 students in grades 6-8 enter the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest for a chance to win their share of more than $1.4 million in state and national awards. Each first place state winner receives a minimum of $500 at the national level, and the national first place winner wins $5,000!

The contest begins at the local VFW level, and for the 2nd year in a row, Gladeville Middle School took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places!

The winners were invited to attend our post meeting to honor their efforts and to receive their monetary award.

Congratulations to the following students:

1st place - 6th grader Mathew Sanders

2nd place - 7th grader, Srikara Sunkara

3rd place - 8th grader, Maggie Peck
